Ronald Kenneth Napier CORRY was born on Saturday 25th September 1915 in Cranleigh a village in Surrey. He was born the son of Ernest CORRY an ironmonger's fitter. His mother was Eveline Maud JOHNS a "sewing machinist". He served in the Gloucestershire Regiment on searchlights during World War II having been diagnosed with a heart condition that prevented his serving abroad. According to his wife this condition was caused by illness (scarlet or rheumatic fever) when he was young and exacerbated by the army training. |

He married Vera Elizabeth Elliott on Saturday 25th July 1942 at Yatton Parish Church, he was shown as living in Yatton at the time. His sister Phyllis Freda (always known as Freda) lived in Yatton so maybe that was a temporary address. |

After they were married they lived in a number of addresses, RKN being posted to different locations. The first address was at 7 Copse Road, Clevedon and then he was posted to Cromer, Norfolk. They lived in a number of houses in and around Cromer, the main one being The Manor House Farm, Overstrand. During this time they sub-let the flat in Clevedon and when the war ended in 1945, they briefly stayed with RKN's mother in Yatton and then returned to the flat in Clevedon when it was vacated. It was here that their first child was born - Sheila Ann on 14th February 1946. In 1950 they moved to 13 Walliscote Road, Henleaze, Bristol where their second child John Michael was born on 20th July 1950. |
